Carlo Palese obtained his Diploma in piano at the Conservatoire “L. Boccherini” in Lucca, summa cum laude under the guidance of Itala Balestri del Corona. He then studied for a period under the guidance of Maria Tipo and, for some years, of Pietro Rigacci. Subsequently, he was the student of Aquiles delle Vigne, obtaining the Diplome Superieur d’Execution at the Ecole Normale de Musique “A. Cortot” in Paris. He has also worked with the teacher and musicologist Piero Rattalino upon various aspects of musical performance and piano repertoire. He has attended masterclass with Jean Fassina, Murray Perahia and others.
During these years he wins several prizes in important national and International Piano Competitions (Viotti-Valsesia, Rome, Milano, Caltanissetta, Treviso,Torrefranca prize, Taranto, Udine, Marsala among others). In 1992 he is been invited in U.S.A. for a tour of concerts (New York, Hartford) and in the same year he gets the second prize at Cincinnati World Piano Competition.
He has been performing for thirty years, playing in Italy, France , Germany , Slovenia, U.S.A. both as soloist and in chamber music.
His musical interests move from classic repertoire to the music of our time; in this field he often performs new works dedicated to him (Gabriele Manca, Gabrio Taglietti, Fabrizio Festa, Gabriel Senanes and others) both in solo recitals and in ensembles (Alter Ego, Sentieri Selvaggi, Set of Three).
He has played with several musicians including violinists Alberto Bologni, Alessandro Cappone, Sam Mc Clure,Gregory Sandomirsky, Alexandre da Costa, Paolo Franceschini, cellists Giorgio Fiori, Cecilia Radich, Brian Kubin e Andrea Nannoni, pianists Cristiano Grifone, Andrea Rebaudengo, Giuseppe Bruno.
He has has made collaborations with R.A.I. (Italian Television) and recorded for Camerata Tokyo and EMA Vinci. Ema Vinci has released a CD containing Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s works for violin and piano with Alberto Bologni in World Premiére Recording.
Currently he is piano professor in Lucca at Conservatoire “Luigi Boccherini” and regularly holds masterclasses in Italy and abroad (Katowice K. Szymanowski Academy International Masterclasses, Miami Piano Festival Academy, etc.).
He is often invited to serve as jury member in international piano competitions.
The intent of spreading musical culture has led Carlo Palese to be active also in the field of music promotion. He is artistic consultant of “Classica con Gusto”, a concert serie in Teatro Goldoni in Livorno; he is President of “Livornoclassica”and Artistic Director of Livorno Piano Competition.
