Rules
Livornoclassica Music Association announces the 2026 edition of Premio Enrico Galletta.
The competitions features two age categories:
Livornoclassica reserves the right to make changes or additions to the competition Rules or cancel the competition due to force majeure. In this case Livornoclassica will entirely refund the application fees.
Audience is allowed at all stages of the competition.
Eligibility
Young pianists of all nationalities may apply.
Candidates who have family relationship or have had continuous teaching relationships with one or more jury members will not be admitted to the Competition. Occasional participation at masterclass will not be cause of exclusion.
The competitions features two age categories:
Category, A up to 14 years old (under 15 at the date of the application deadline)
Category B, up to 17 years old (under 18 at the date of the application deadline)
Calendar
For both categories the competition consists of two rounds:
- First Round online: link to a video to be sent with the application. Deadline will be July 1, 2026.
- Final round in person: will take place in Livorno at Teatro Goldoni, Sala Goldonetta on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
Award Ceremony and gala Concert will take place on Sunday, September 27.
Before July 25th contestants will be notified by email the result of the First online Round.
Notifications
Each contestant will be informed by email about the application, the result of the First round online, the rehearsal and audition schedule; the absence at check-in without any justified reason will determine the exclusion from the competition.
Auditions will take place in alphabetic order, according to the drawing of the letter which will made known before the end of July on our website and on social media pages Facebook and Instagram.
Travel and accomodation
Travel and accommodation expenses are borne by the competitors. All facilities and agreements with hotels, B&B, private apartments will be forwarded by email by the LPC secretary.
Musical program
First Round online
Category A: video with a maximum duration of 12 minutes. At least two compositions must be included.
Category B: video with a maximum duration of 15 minutes. At least two compositions must be included.
The program is at contestant’s free choice. Single movements of Sonatas or Suites are accepted.
Performance from memory is not required. All works must be published and easier version of original pieces are not accepted.
Contestants will send a link to a video on You Tube or other platforms (either public or private videos are accepted); a fixed shooting angle and clear visibility of face and hands are required. The performed pieces can either be all in the same recording session or recorded separately, in any case with no cut inside a single piece or movement.
Multi camera videos are accepted only if they contain a professional recording made during piano competitions by the organization (specify the name of the competition).
Contestants have the choice to perform the musical program (all or in part) during the Final round, if they wish.
Final Round in presence
Category A: Program of max 15 minutes at contestant’s free choice. At least two compositions must be included.
Category B: Program of max 20 minutes at contestant’s free choice. At least two compositions must be included.
Single movements of Sonatas or Suites are accepted. Performance from memory is not required. All works must be published and easier version of original pieces are not accepted.
It is recommended not to exceed the given maximum given time.
Jury and voting system
The jury’s decision is irrevocable. The jury reserves the right to stop the performance in case the time limit be exceeded.
After the end of the Competition the results of the finals with the choices made by each juror will be displayed on Livorno Piano Competition’s website.
Registration implies unconditional compliance with every part of the rulement.
Application
Applications will be accepted starting from may 15th until July 1st 2026 at 24:00 italian hour.
The application form, downloadable in the “application” section of this website, must be filled and sent by email at segreteria@livornopianocompetition.com together with all the required documents and the link to the video for the First Round. Specify in the “object” filed of the email: “application to Young LPC- Premio Enrico Galletta 2026”. Also specify the category.
The receipt of payment, net of bank expenses, must be attached to the application email: 70 euros as “contribution to Young Livorno Piano Competition”.
Registration implies unconditional compliance with every part of the rulement.

The awarded sum includes also the First category Prize.

* Money prizes will be awarded gross of the withholding tax.
The winner of Premio Galletta will be required to perform on September, 27 during the Award Ceremony and gala Concert (under penalty of loss of the prize). Other First Prize winners could be invited to perform in the concert.
Premio ENRICO GALLETTA cannot be shared.
Other Special prizes may be awarded.
The Jury reserves the right not to award prizes.
Privacy
Candidates with the application authorize LIVORNOCLASSICA, pursuant to art . 97 of the Law on copyright, to make audio-video recordings of their performance and feature it on any digital platform (YouTube or others) and to publish photos in promotional material of the Association . In relation to this candidates cannot advance any right or financial request towards Livornoclassica .
According to art. 13 and 14 of GDPR (UE 2016/679 About Privacy) all data provided at registration will be used only to send communications related to the contest excluding any other use.
The organization accepts no liability in respect of any injury to persons and / or property during the course of the competition.
